Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver clear, consistent communications across digital, internal, and stakeholder channels
2. Produce high-quality materials including communication plans, engagement strategies, messaging frameworks, briefing packs, Q&As, and talking points
3. Advise senior leaders and programme teams on communication strategies within a national security context
4. Lead stakeholder engagement activity across internal and external audiences, ensuring tailored messaging approaches
5. Work closely with central communications teams to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and governance requirements
6. Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness, using insight to improve future activity
7. Ensure all outputs meet strict security, confidentiality, and compliance standards
8. Support a collaborative communications culture across programmes and teams
Essential Skills & Experience
9. Proven background in strategic communications, engagement, or corporate communications roles
10. Experience within government, defence, national security, or similarly complex/regulatory environments
11. Strong copywriting, editorial, and storytelling capability across multiple formats
12. Demonstrable experience developing communications and engagement strategies
13. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior and sensitive stakeholders
14. Ability to operate with discretion in secure environments
15. Confident advising senior leadership and influencing communications direction
16. Skilled at translating complex or technical information into clear, accessible messaging
17. Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
