The Opportunity: This is a newly created role working for a business who have made great strides in investing in their IT function and who have stated that being led and driven by data is one of their core business aims. You will be integral to this and will be responsible for establishing and building the Data & Analytics function from scratch - you'll design, own and implement the Data Science / Data Analytics strategy as well as selecting and implementing the tools that will enable them to improve the performance of the business. The Role: The role sits within the core IT function and you'll be working with an IT Director who is fantastic to work with. The Tech stack is new and investment within the business is there to enable you to establish and build a successful Data / Analytics functions. Key responsibilities include: - Lead the development and execution of the roadmap for Data and Analytics - Work closely with key stakeholders across the business to understand how data can be used to improve business performance - Develop and create the data sets, repositories, extract / transform / load routines and validation mechanisms - Establish the integration with all databases and software systems - currently in place is Netsuite as the ERP system, Dayforce as the HR Platform and they're currently implementing a Workforce Management System to hold data around the tasks the mobile workforce are responsible for carrying out - Guide and develop the analytics and intelligence that will help to inform the business and work with the Performance Insights Lead to develop the BI dashboards and visualisation tools. - Investigate and implement relevant machine learning and AI tools to identify previously unknown insights and trends - Automate reporting and reduce the reliance on Excel based outputs - Build a case for the creation of a team and recruit / manage the team as it grows The Person: The ideal person: - Will have played a senior role in a small but growing Data / Analytics / Business Intelligence Team - the team will grow but to begin with you will be the team so need to be comfortable with the hands on aspect in conjunction with the long term management of the function. - Hold a relevant degree in one of Data & Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or BI - Have detailed experience and knowledge in the creation, development, and maintenance of data repositories, data warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms (ideally Azure) and modern reporting / bi / visualisation platforms such as MS Power BI - Will be able to build and exploit data models, statistical analysis or predictive analytics, machine learning or artificial intelligence - Be experienced at embedding insights and working with the business to be able to use the data to make better and more informed decisions - Have experience of Databases (ideally SQL Server) and tools such as Python or Azure DataBricks The role is offered on a hybrid basis with travel to one of the core offices once a week - this can be Chorley in Lancashire with occasional trips to Birmingham.
