Pastoral Care at Wellington College offers a part-time Counselling role supporting student wellbeing within a compassionate and professional school environment.
Welcome to Wellington College. Located in Crowthorne, Berkshire, our 400 acre estate provides a distinctive and inspiring place to work. Wellington is a dynamic, ambitious and values-led community, offering both boarding and day education and placing wellbeing and pastoral care at the heart of school life.
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Counsellor to join our Pastoral Care team, providing a confidential and professional counselling and psychotherapy service to students aged 13–18. Working as part of the College's established counselling and therapeutic provision, this role plays an important part in supporting students' emotional wellbeing and mental health within a busy school and boarding environment.
The Counsellor will work collaboratively with pastoral, medical and safeguarding colleagues, contributing specialist expertise to the College's wider pastoral framework. The role involves supporting students with a range of emotional and developmental needs, maintaining accurate and secure clinical records, and working within recognised ethical and safeguarding frameworks. You will also engage positively with colleagues, families and external professionals where appropriate, and contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the counselling service.
This is a part-time, term-time role, working between 16 and 21 hours per week across 33 weeks per year, offering a valuable opportunity to balance professional practice with school-based work. The post holder will receive internal supervision and be supported to maintain external clinical supervision in line with professional requirements, while contributing to a reflective, collegiate counselling team.
Working in a school environment offers a unique sense of purpose and community. You will be supported with training, development and opportunities to grow your skills, and you'll work alongside colleagues who are committed to delivering an excellent service to every member of the Wellington community.
