An exciting opportunity has arisen within Camden School Nursing service to recruit highly motivated and innovative practitioners to join the School Nursing Service to deliver the Healthy Child Programme.

Main duties
* As an integral member of the Camden School Nursing service, you will be responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme in collaboration with the wider school health team.
* We offer excellent professional development opportunities along with formal one-to-one supervision and annual appraisal.
* To work in partnership with educational staff, health care professionals and other agencies to provide advice and support to children & young people, their parents and carers as required.
* Undertake appropriate training / updates related to public health issues in order to contribute towards meeting local and national Department of Health targets such as immunisations, teenage pregnancy & sexual health, smoking cessation and obesity.
* To carry out training sessions to other professionals on relevant health or medical issues and where appropriate, assist children and young people to manage their own health conditions independently.
* To undertake agreed health assessments on children & young people and ensure referrals, treatments and reviews are carried out as recommended and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
* To develop high quality packages of care for children & young people with medical needs, in partnership with other health professionals, education, parents & carers & other agencies as necessary.
* To be responsible for identifying children & young people requiring medical follow-up planning.

Qualifications
* Essential: RGN [NMC Registered] / RSCN Child Branch
* Essential: Specialist Practitioner Community Public Health Nurse (School Nursing or Children’s Community Nursing)
* Desirable: Evidence of Continual Professional development
* Desirable: Mentorship Preparation or equivalent
* Desirable: Public Health Nursing (Children & Families)
* Desirable: Sexual health (or equivalent)
* Desirable: School Nurse Certificate
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working with children in a professional capacity
* Essential: Working with families who have experienced trauma
* Essential: Proven post nursing registration experience
* Essential: Working with diverse communities
* Essential: Evidence to support experience of audit activity
Knowledge
* Essential: Understanding of quality issues, the audit process and clinical governance
* Essential: Knowledge of children with long term medical needs
* Essential: Understanding of the public health role of the school nurse
* Essential: Understanding of Equality & Valuing Diversity
* Essential: Knowledge of key documents and drivers informing school nursing practice
