We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Northampton, starting as soon as possible. The Role As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across all curriculum subjects. You will track pupil progress, identify learning gaps, and adapt your teaching to ensure all pupils make strong progress academically and socially. Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence will be central to your practice. You will work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues, and phase leaders to maintain consistency and high standards across Key Stage 1. Clear communication with parents and carers will be an essential part of your role, supporting pupils’ learning both in school and at home. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in line with the Year 1 curriculum Track pupil progress and use assessment to inform planning Differentiate learning for all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience Collaborate with teaching assistants and Key Stage 1 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 Be confident in delivering phonics, early literacy, and numeracy Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive Show a clear commitment to inclusion and safeguarding Work positively as part of a team Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will be supported with mentoring.
