Our client, a global manufacturer of electric power equipment, has retained Vida Group to help them recruit a Managing Director to lead their business in the United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full P&L Leadership
* Own full financial performance including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, and cash flow.
* Develop and execute annual budgets and 3–5 year strategic plans.
* Drive margin improvement through pricing strategy, supplier negotiations, and cost optimisation.
* Manage working capital, including inventory turns and receivables control.
2. Commercial Growth & Market Expansion
* Lead national sales strategy across key segments (industrial, commercial, healthcare, data centres, utilities, construction, etc.).
* Expand market share through new customer acquisition and key account development.
* Identify new product lines, supplier partnerships, and service offerings.
* Develop go-to-market strategies aligned with evolving UK energy security and resilience needs.
* Strengthen brand positioning within the UK power generation market.
* Build and maintain strategic partnerships with global equipment manufacturers.
* Negotiate distribution agreements, pricing structures, and volume targets.
* Ensure alignment between supplier strategy and UK market opportunities.
* Maintain high standards of product knowledge and technical competency across the organisation.
4. Operations & Service Excellence
* Oversee logistics, warehousing, and inventory management.
* Optimise supply chain efficiency and stock availability.
* Ensure high-quality installation, commissioning, and after-sales service.
* Drive operational KPIs including delivery performance, service response times, and customer satisfaction.
* Maintain compliance with UK regulatory and safety standards.
* Lead and develop a high-performing commercial, technical, and operational team.
* Establish clear accountability, performance metrics, and incentive structures.
* Foster a culture of customer focus, commercial discipline, and operational excellence.
* Build succession plans and leadership bench strength.
6. Strategic Positioning & Industry Engagement
* Monitor UK market trends including energy transition, backup power demand, grid instability, and regulatory changes.
* Identify opportunities in renewables integration, hybrid systems, battery storage, and decarbonisation solutions.
* Represent the company with key stakeholders, industry bodies, and strategic partners.
7. Governance & Risk Management
* Ensure strong financial controls and reporting processes.
* Manage commercial risk, credit exposure, and contractual compliance.
* Maintain health & safety standards across warehouse and field operations.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA desirable).
* 10–15+ years of senior leadership experience within power generation, electrical equipment distribution, industrial machinery, or related sectors.
* Proven experience managing full P&L responsibility.
* Strong understanding of UK industrial and commercial markets.
* Experience working with OEMs and international suppliers.
* Demonstrated track record of revenue growth and margin expansion.
