We are looking for an ambitious and detail‑driven File Handler to join our Legal department in Bolton. The role involves handling pre‑litigation credit hire files, ensuring client guidelines and SRA standards are adhered to, and negotiating settlements.

Key Responsibilities
* Review pre‑proceeding files and adhere to Client Guidelines.
* Formulate an initial strategy and implement it.
* Conduct telephone negotiations with Credit Hire Organisations.
* Pursue settlement as quickly as possible.
* Liaise with insurers where necessary.
* Ensure actions are carried out according to action lists in the Case Management System.
* Maintain files within ISO 9001 guidelines.
* Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
* Adhere to Keoghs Values.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
* Education: at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent; a degree is preferable.
* Experience of credit hire is essential; at least 6 months in a relevant environment.
* Ability to use own initiative, plan and prioritise workloads.
* Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
* Good telephone negotiation skills.
* Ability to follow work processes and keep to strategy.
* Recognition of when sensitivity and tact are required.
* Decision‑making and calmness under pressure.
* Good IT skills (Word, Outlook) and experience with a Case Management System.
Technical Knowledge to be Developed
* Understanding of pre‑proceeding credit hire.
* The life cycle of a file.
