About the role: This is a vital support position, providing administrative assistance to an Executive Editor and their team, including commissioning and promotional activities. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Retrieving data from databases and sending electronic mailings via Maxemail.
2. Conducting publication timeline and competitor analyses, and updating journal blogs.
3. Responding to general queries from potential authors and managing shared journal mailboxes.
4. Organizing Editorial Board meetings, booking venues, and arranging travel and accommodation for members.
5. Maintaining and updating Editorial and Advisory Board lists.
6. Supporting external activities, including collating statistics, organizing conference materials, and liaising with travel teams.
7. Coordinating with external Editors on marketing and promotional activities.
8. Handling payments for Editors and processing expenses.
9. Providing cover for other Editorial Assistants and assisting with administrative duties to ensure smooth operations.
10. Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Executive Editors and Publishers.
11. Supporting the RSC’s publishing strategy, including new product development and technical innovation.
Ideal candidate:
* Previous administrative experience.
* Proficiency with PC software packages.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills and team effectiveness.
* Experience in Scientific, Technical, and Medical (STM) publishing is desirable.
