Senior Principal Consultant (Contract/Freelance) - Defence Industry
As a Human Factors Specialist supporting the TRINITY programme, you will report to the HFI Manager and assist them in delivering User-Centred Design and Integration activities.
This could include assessing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf equipment against system requirements / user needs; engaging with users to understand their goals and tasks; conducting detailed analyses to understand cognitive workload and human error; anthropometric assessment and workspace/workstation design; working with other engineering functions and disciplines to support their tasks.
Typical Duties
* Support Vigilant lead HFI specialist in the conduct of human factors activities and integration of HF into the TRINITY design.
* Work with end user groups and HF stakeholders in workshops, trials and User-Centred Design activities.
* Assess prototypes/mock-ups of TRINITY hardware and software solutions.
* Conduct analyses such as task analysis, human error analysis, usability and workload assessments.
* Support Integration Testing and verification activities.
* Produce reports and input to customer deliverables.
Knowledge
* At least five years’ experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or a safety-critical industry.
Skills
* Experience applying Def Stan 00-251 and working within a multi-disciplinary team on complex system integration and development projects.
Qualifications
* A recognised Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology or Engineering (with specific Human Factors Experience).
* Registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or eligibility for CIEHF Chartership via an equivalent body).
