Job Overview: Spencer Clarke Group is currently seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a dedicated team at a school in Bolton. This is a temporary, full-time position ideal for someone with previous caretaking or facilities experience who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-Unlocking and securing the school premises each day
- Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., fixing door handles, replacing lightbulbs)
- Ensuring the school grounds and building are clean, tidy, and hazard-free
- Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure efficient operation
- Setting up furniture and equipment for school events or assemblies
- Conducting regular health and safety checks, including fire alarm tests and reporting any issues
- Supervising external contractors when on site for larger repairs or maintenance
- Responding quickly to any ad hoc tasks or emergency situations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, or maintenance role (preferably in a school setting)
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
