Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon with an interest in Revision Knee Arthroplasty (Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide full consultant in‑patient, out‑patient and pre‑assessment care based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. The successful applicant will work closely with the existing Hip and Knee Consultants and be supported by resident doctors and post‑CCT fellows. In addition to the elective workload, they will contribute to the orthopaedic on‑call rota (1 in 8). Clinical duties include ward rounds, operating lists, pre‑assessment clinics, joint replacement infection MDT meetings, Bone Infection Unit clinic visits and attendance at the regional revision knee meeting. A commitment to audit, teaching and a clinical improvement role for the Trauma, Orthopaedic & Rheumatology (TOR) directorate will also be expected. The appointment will be on a substantive basis and is open to job‑share.

Qualifications and Training
* GMC Specialist Register in Orthopaedic Surgery or within six months of achieving CCT in Orthopaedic Surgery at the time of interview
* Registered with GMC/FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent
* General training in Orthopaedic including hip and knee surgery
* Minimum 18 months of hip and knee experience during training, including primary and revision arthroplasty, management of complex knee arthroplasty and failed knee replacements
* Full registration and licence to practise
* Higher medical degree
* Fellowship experience in the management of infected joint replacements and periprosthetic fractures around the knee
* Consultant experience working in a major revision centre or unit
Professional Training and Experience
* Minimum 18 months of specialist knee experience
* Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level and manage complex clinical problems
* Consultant level experience (substantive or locum)
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead a clinical team in a teaching hospital
* Effective administrative and time‑management skills; training in clinical management
* Knowledge of NHS organisation and Government agenda
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; good written and spoken English
* Evidence of contribution to clinical governance, risk management and audit activities
* Experience in teaching undergraduates and trainees
* Evidence of publications in knee surgery and peer‑reviewed orthopaedic research
* Knowledge of electronic patient record and database administration
* Experience as a tutor or clinical supervisor to students/junior staff
