We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within the Thoracic-Oncology nursing team at Harefield Hospital. Delivering cancer care alongside the multi professional clinical and medical team, Cancer MDT Coordinators, Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurse Associates and Lead Nurse for Cancer, to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and/or investigations for cancer conditions.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Advanced Nursing Team, providing individualised care to our patients and their
families/carers through Inpatient and Outpatient Care, Holistic Needs Assessments and Follow-Up. The post holder will work with
the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Registered Nurse Associate directly, alongside the Lead Nurse for Cancer to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and investigations for cancer conditions.
The post holder will be a core member of the Harefield Hospitals Lung Cancer MDT, contributing expert nursing opinion. However, a key aspect of the role is ensuring continuity for patients referred for specialist care, by liaison with referring centres and healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will work with colleagues and the Lead Nurse for Cancer to deliver a supportive nursing service for patients and their families undergoing treatment and investigations for cancer conditions at Harefield Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospitals.
2. The post holder will be a core member of the Harefield Hospitals Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), contributing expert nursing opinion. However, a key aspect of the role is ensuring continuity for patients referred for specialist care, by liaison with referring centres and healthcare professionals.
3. The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of patients and will act as “Key Worker”. They will be responsible for proactive management of these patients, providing a link while patients are at home and ensuring necessary onward referrals are in place.
4. The post holder will act as a role model and a leader to all staff dealing with complex situations, initiating treatment, and taking action where appropriate.
5. The post holder will demonstrate a wide of range of nursing expertise in areas of specialist oncology nursing care.
6. The post holder will be accountable for their nursing practice, adhere to the policies and protocols of the trust and the NMC. You will have a responsibility for your own personal and continual professional development.
