Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Do you have proven experience as a Project Manager with an Engineering or Scientific degree (or equivalent)? If so, we currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Engineering and Delivery directorate as a Project Manager.
You will have responsibility for leading the delivery and management of the continuous water quality monitoring requirements (as identified in the Environment Act 2021).
What you'll do
This is a new and exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to design and deliver a programme.
We will be installing sensors to monitor the water quality of all wastewater assets discharging into the water environment between 2025 and 2035.
The data will be recorded in near real-time and reported on a nationally available website. This is part of a significant investment programme focussed on delivering new infrastructure and data capture including the deployment of 1,400 water quality monitors at highly sensitive river locations from 2025 to 2030.
You will also be involved in the development of data capture and IT infrastructure to enable public data sharing and integration into our systems to create a smart network for wastewater asset management.
With an anticipated TOTEX spend of £500m over a ten-year period, you will be required to:
* build the delivery team to install the water quality monitors in accordance with regulatory guidance
* identify the commercial approach to secure the supply of the most appropriate equipment and enable procurement
* Identify the most appropriate delivery approach or approaches, either building the internal capability or outsourcing
* lead projects to ensure completion within safety, time, quality and cost parameters
* ensure effective and efficient resource management
* enable improved project solutions leading to cost reductions and improved health and safety
* undertake project reviews and audits to promote ongoing quality and procedural improvements.
What you'll need
You will be an experienced Project Manager, preferably in the water or utilities industries, and will be used to managing the full project life cycle from concept, through to design and construction, to the commissioning of engineering projects.
In addition, you will:
* be educated to degree level in an Engineering or Scientific degree (or equivalent)
* have a working knowledge of health and safety and CDM regulations
* have construction management experience both office-based and on-site
* have good planning and organisational skills with effective decision-making
* have the ability to present confidently to non-industry people
* have the ability to organise yourself, individuals and teams, motivating all towards achieving the successful completion of projects.
