GSL Education are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming and inclusive school setting in Fareham. This role offers a highly rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support due to a range of learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school’s SEN provision. You will work alongside class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to provide personalised support that enables students with Special Educational Needs to access and engage fully with their education. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with varying special needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH. Modify and adapt learning materials to support the individual needs of students. Promote student confidence, independence, and positive behaviour through consistent support and encouragement. Liaise with teachers and other support staff to ensure continuity of care and learning. Support with the implementation of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) strategies. Provide personal care when necessary, maintaining the dignity and comfort of students. Job Requirements: Prior experience supporting children or young adults with SEN in a school or care setting is highly desirable. Strong understanding of various special educational needs and effective support strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families. Ability to remain calm, nurturing and patient in challenging situations. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or SEN support are an advantage. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
