Overview
BAE Systems is looking for a Technical Documentation Engineer to join a dynamic Technical Publications team, supporting complex engineering programmes. This is a key role responsible for the creation, validation, and delivery of high-quality technical documentation to support critical systems and operations.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and validating technical documentation in line with industry and business standards
* Reviewing OEM manuals and conducting detailed editorial analysis
* Ensuring technical data specifications are complete, consistent, and ready for subcontracted production
* Producing integrated training and technical documentation requirements
* Managing configuration-controlled data and maintaining full audit trails
* Liaising with engineering, supply chain, training teams, and external suppliers
* Supporting subcontractors with production specifications and resolving queries
* Ensuring all documentation is delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Skills & Experience
* Experience within technical documentation, engineering support, or information management
* Working knowledge of S1000D
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex documentation challenges
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience working collaboratively across engineering and project teams
* Familiarity with tools such as MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, SGML, or similar
