Senior Manufacturing Engineering Strategy Leader

GE Aerospace is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Strategy Leader – Electrical Power. This role focuses on leading continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes for aerospace products.

Location: Bishop's Cleeve, England, United Kingdom


Job Description Summary

As a Consulting Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead initiatives to optimise manufacturing operations, ensuring the highest standards of product quality while championing continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, share expertise, and mentor engineers to foster growth. Implementation of lean manufacturing principles and GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK operating system will be key to enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost savings.

Key responsibilities include acting as a technical expert and process owner, guiding program management, leading design reviews, aligning with chief engineers, integrating new technologies, supporting production sites, facilitating knowledge sharing, guiding equipment implementations, and supporting new product introduction activities.


Responsibilities

* Act as a recognised technical expert and process owner in manufacturing and process engineering.
* Provide expert guidance to program management, design, and supply chain teams.
* Stay informed of advancements in your area of expertise.
* Co‑chair and provide technical leadership in design/producibility reviews, manufacturing reviews, task forces, and design boards.
* Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Chief Technologists to align design and manufacturing processes.
* Offer technical consultation to assigned organisation and other internal/external teams.
* Identify and recommend improvements in technical knowledge and training needs.
* Lead efforts to integrate new technologies into production processes.
* Work with multi‑year product and technology strategy teams and take ownership of the Multigenerational Manufacturing Plan.
* Provide technical support to production processes at manufacturing sites, focusing on yield, cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
* Facilitate connectivity between site Manufacturing Engineering teams and SMEs across GE Aerospace.
* Guide implementation of new equipment, including specification writing, cost justification, vendor selection, installation planning, start‑up, prove‑out, and benefit realization.
* Develop plans and secure funding for maturation of new manufacturing technologies and processes.
* Provide subject‑matter expertise for NPI producibility and production readiness reviews.
* Engage with Bids & Proposals, ATO, NPI design, and upstream teams to offer DFM insights.
* Attend industry trade shows and events to identify emerging technologies.
* Support growth and development of manufacturing engineering roles through mentorship, training, and collaborative projects.


Requirements

* Degree in a STEM related subject or equivalent aerospace manufacturing experience.
* Significant experience in a technical manufacturing capacity, with a strong background in a Manufacturing Engineering role within an advanced technology business.


Desired Skills and Experience

* Recognised authority in Power Generation & Conversion manufacturing engineering disciplines.
* Strong ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and collaborate across all levels.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Proven record of leading teams through complex problem‑solving and root‑cause investigations.
* Proficiency in lean methodologies and GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK operating system.

Security Clearance
