Job summary
To deliver planned Oncology treatment to patients with malignancies. Being a member of the relevant well-established multi-disciplinary teams. Treatments will be delivered in close co-operation with the current visiting Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Consultants in Clinical Oncology.
Main duties of the job
Working with a team of Clinical and Medical Oncologists from both the Cancer Centre (Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and our own East Lancashire team. The post holder will provide support to our oncology team, which includes 28 clinics per week and two chemotherapy departments (20 sessions per week) across ELHT sites.
The post holder will be required to provide clinical support in most areas of cancer (all tumour groups except for rare and very complex cancers which are referred to our local Cancer Centre at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts).

About us
The Cancer Services Department is based on the two main hospital sites of Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital.
The department includes various disciplines across medical, technical, nursing, and administrative staff, working together to deliver effective and efficient Cancer and Oncology services.
Annually, the Oncologists deliver over 18,000 outpatient appointments, the Chemotherapy Units provide over 8,000 treatment episodes, Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) provide over 25,000 contacts, and MDT Coordinators support over 15,000 MDT discussions.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
* Full GMC registration & Licence to Practice
* MBBs or equivalent
* Inclusion on the specialist register or admission with 6 months CCT in medical oncology, MRCP or equivalent
Desirable qualifications include higher degrees such as MD, PhD, MSc, and PG Certificate in Medical Education.
Research and Development (Essential):
* Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects
Desirable includes evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Experience (Essential):
* Broad experience of outpatient and inpatient medical oncology
* Year 5/6 training or equivalent in oncology
Desirable: more extensive experience in relevant areas of interest.
