We are seeking a skilled individual to provide technical support for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project. Working within the Capability Team, you will support FCAS Concepting, Assessment, and Technology Portfolio efforts.
Your responsibilities will include aligning FCAS requirements with technical capabilities across Leonardo UK and industry partners, identifying capability gaps, proposing solutions, and supporting certification processes.
The role involves liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders within the organization and externally, including MoD, Dstl, and FCAS industry partners.
Leonardo offers a flexible working environment, allowing the role to be based at any UK site with occasional UK and international travel.
Key Responsibilities as a Capability Engineer
* Ensure alignment between Concepting and Technology Capability pillars within FCAS-AP and FCAS TI/Team TEMPEST, working closely with senior leaders.
* Identify and explore capability gaps, define technical requirements, and support the development of technology roadmaps and stakeholder reviews.
* Conduct horizon scanning for disruptive technologies and provide assessment and recommendations for technology insertion.
* Facilitate technical reviews for internal and external stakeholders, including MoD.
* Support Tri-national Test and Evaluation activities, including planning and analysis.
* Collaborate with national and international FCAS/GCAP stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Degree or equivalent experience in the defence industry, with a proven ability to build relationships with project stakeholders across government and industry. Experience in early-stage concepting or technology development is beneficial. Knowledge of sensor and communication system testing and evaluation is advantageous. Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop optimal solutions is essential.
