This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team that will help shape the future of waste services in South Lanarkshire. With major policy and legislative changes on the horizon — including the Packaging Waste Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme (PEPR), the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024, as well as the mandatory Code of Practice on Household Waste and Recycling — we are looking for motivated individuals to help us deliver transformational change. The roles will support the development, management, and implementation of large-scale projects that will ensure South Lanarkshire Council delivers effective and efficient household waste services. Key tasks will include establishing and maintaining a full range of project management documentation for monitoring, evaluation and benefit realisation purposes. The successful applicants will be required to facilitate project meetings, manage and maintain action logs as well as assisting with the development, co-ordination and monitoring of business cases. In addition to excellent communication and IT skills, applicants must have previous experience of working as part of a team tasked with delivering a project. They should also be conscientious with a willingness to learn, have an ability to work as part of a team and be able to demonstrate problem solving skills. Previous project management experience, experience in public sector procurement and/or experience in the waste management sector would be highly desirable.
