The Role
This position combines expert Information Governance with rigorous corporate compliance. The responsibilities include:
* Lead on GDPR & Data Privacy: Act as resident expert and DPO, managing complex SARs, FOIs, risk‑assessing breaches, and liaising directly with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
* Drive Trust‑Wide Compliance: Ensure the Trust meets statutory requirements and DFE regulations, including website compliance.
* Internal Scrutiny & Audit: Support the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation and planning of internal scrutiny, working with auditors to test systems and implementing recommendations.
* Strategic Governance: Serve on the Information Governance Steering Group, manage the policy register, ensuring policies are reviewed, approved, and understood by stakeholders.
* Support Growth: Play a vital role in due diligence and onboarding new academies, implementing compliance standards from day one.
About You
We seek a technical expert and persuasive leader who should:
* Have a proven track record in Data Protection (UK GDPR/DPA 2018) and Information Governance.
* Have experience in statutory compliance, preferably within education, multi‑academy, or complex public sector environments.
* Be able to interpret complex legislation and provide plain‑English advice to staff at all levels.
* Have strong project management skills with assertiveness and credibility to meet statutory deadlines.
* Commit to the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
