Job title: Principal C&I Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, Frimley (Hybrid – Travel to Barrow 3-4 times per month required). We offer flexible working arrangements; please speak to your recruiter about options.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Lead engineering activities for supply and delivery of Controls and Instrumentation equipment supporting test and build of AVC systems.
2. Maintain detailed records of part maturity, delivery status, and schedules.
3. Specify equipment, analyze requirements, create parts and BOMs.
4. Understand customer needs, develop, validate, and manage requirements, applying your C&I knowledge.
5. Collaborate with system owners, suppliers, and customers to support manufacturing contracting and ensure on-time delivery.
6. Compile technical documentation for design, delivery, integration, validation, verification, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.
7. Define tests and perform testing on systems and equipment.
8. Integrate electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems, understanding their impact on the whole system.
9. Lead technical work packages, managing design and deliverables.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Good understanding of C&I systems design with demonstrable experience.
* Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
* Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and application of good practices.
Desirable Skills
* Awareness of Defence and Industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C/254).
* Chartered engineer or working towards this qualification.
