Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset. The Construction Delivery Manager supports field activities related to the construction of a designated section of the works and on-site facilitation, including installation of pressurized rotating equipment in the turbine hall during mechanical erection from civil handover to commissioning. It includes day-to-day on-site supervision and direction of the works to safely and efficiently deliver the project.
Responsibilities
* Support the contract partners in their delivery of works packages to enable efficient delivery of their sections.
* Recommend temporary measures to mitigate safety and/or quality concerns; follow up with appropriate action (e.g., issue communications, call meetings) to avoid cessation of works. This includes review of documents and assurance audits.
* Monitor on-site works and record findings in a construction daily site log; report information up to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and escalate issues via detailed reports.
* Coordinate with site functions (H&S, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, logistics) and other Construction Delivery Managers to maintain clear communication and timely reporting. Attend pre-start briefings and support key messages to the contractor's organisation.
* Attend PLOD/PLOW and technical meetings with the contractor; ensure outputs are recorded and issued to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager.
* Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project HSPI's.
* Ensure clear, two-way communication with the Construction Delivery Lead so activities and issues are directed appropriately.
Dimensions
* EDF Energy will be the Principal Contractor to deliver this Major Project.
* The post holder will be based at Hinkley Point C and may travel to other UK locations and possibly Europe as required.
* Manage and coordinate delivery of service contract partners.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Experience delivering projects, including construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
* Good understanding of obligations under the CDM Regulations.
* Shaft alignment and concentricity; assembly and disassembly of mechanical components under pressure (e.g., turbine systems, centrifugal compressors, high-power generators >250MW).
* Ability to write informative, concise, and meaningful reports.
* Motivate and energise contract partners by building trust and encouraging diverse views; excellent organisation and communication skills.
* Use of precision measuring instruments (micrometer, dial gauge, caliper, etc.).
* Reading and interpreting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent training/experience.
* SMSTS or IOSH qualification.
* Ability to collaborate with other managers to effectively manage site operations; ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Desirable
* Experience in a high-security environment is advantageous.
* Experience within Nuclear or power generation projects; Lockout/Tagout awareness.
* Experience with assembly/disassembly of mechanical components under pressure (e.g., centrifugal pumps).
