Overview
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a CAMHS Practitioner to work in Cannock and Stafford. The role delivers high‑quality child and adolescent mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessments of children and young people, integrating complex data from multiple sources.
* Implement clinical interventions for children and families within and across teams, adjusting and refining therapeutic models.
* Make treatment decisions based on theoretical and therapeutic models, considering historical and developmental factors.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment and discharge.
* Offer specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
* Contribute to improving the understanding of child and adolescent mental health.
* Provide medication interventions where appropriate.
* Lead the development of clinical services for young people, including additional consultation, and facilitate coordination of care on a multidisciplinary basis.
Qualifications – Essential
* Registered Mental Health Nurse or HCPC registered professional relevant to children’s mental health.
* Undergraduate degree.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Additional qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health (e.g., CYP IAPT, CBT, CBTp, Family interventions, CAT, DBT).
* Recognition in mentoring, assessing or supporting students in placement.
* Non‑medical prescriber V300 or working towards this.
Experience – Essential
* Extensive post‑registration experience working with individuals who have complex mental health needs in community settings and within an MDT.
* Experience working with people who have difficulty engaging with services and who require care coordination and autonomous working.
Experience – Desirable
* Assessment and management of complex needs, including risk within structured frameworks such as CPA/Safeguarding Children, and familiarity with CAMHS.
* Effective management of mental health related issues, referrals and needs for advice face‑to‑face and virtually, including telephone during high demand situations.
