The community-based Dermatology service at a private client based in West Midlands are looking for a locum Dermatology nurse with Phototherapy experience to join them on a full-time or part-time basis to start as soon as possible.
Our client is one of the UK’s largest providers of community based Dermatology services that manages a wide range of dermatological conditions that would otherwise be referred to secondary care.
Clinical Responsibilities:
* Provision of clinical care and clinical administration for the management of a dermatology caseload
* Develop and sustain relationships with patients, carers and all members of the interdisciplinary team across care settings and traditional boundaries in order to maintain effective communication and exchange of information.
* Clinical encounters will involve
o Using history taking skills to establish the problem, plan of action and review of the action taken

o Appropriate liaison with other team members/supervising clinician to resolve issues
o Following drug protocols
o Repeat prescribing
o Making onward referrals to other providers
o Scheduling follow up appointments within the service
o Responsibility for action taken and advice given
o Ensuring the required documentation is completed
o Support service audit and service improvement
* Undertake independent clinics alongside a supervising senior clinician; ensuring excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of clinics.
* Phototherapy experience is essential
* Appropriately request, interpret and inform patients regarding investigation results such as blood, urine and microbiology tests and act appropriately when anomalies are discovered. This includes potentially life-threatening abnormalities where immediate action should be taken
* Demonstrate proficiency in the use of email communication, processing of word documentation, power point presentation, excel data base.
* Organise, prioritise and evaluate workload based on accepted referral criteria
* Use discretion to make decisions regarding patient care within clinical/professional guidelines and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Actively participate in all aspects of the clinical governance process.
* Take a supportive role in promoting infection control, environmental safety and risk management in order to and minimise risk to patients, self and other staff at all times.
* Undertake regular audits using research methodology in order to implement changes in practice and thereby improve patient care.
* Participate in reviewing of policies and protocols in relation to the service, including where appropriate, those which may impact on other professional groups.
* DMARD’s experience is desirable
