An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established infrastructure and utilities contractor delivering essential projects across the UK.Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception through to completion. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in driving commercial performance, managing project costs, maximising profitability, and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.The successful candidate will be commercially astute, detail-oriented, and confident managing both financial and contractual aspects of multiple projects.The RoleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for controlling project costs, managing subcontractor accounts, administering contracts, and identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance. You will work collaboratively with operational teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and monitor project costs, including weekly profit and loss reportingReview contract documentation and provide commercial and contractual adviceMonitor project progress and maintain accurate cash flow forecastsProduce and review Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), commercial forecasts, and project finance reportsManage subcontractor procurement, forecasting, and contractual agreementsPrepare subcontract documentation, tender enquiries, and quotation assessmentsNegotiate subcontract terms and conditionsAdminister subcontract valuations, invoices, payments, and final accountsLead the management of change control, risk management, and value engineering processesTrack and manage project variations, compensation events, and contractual noticesPrepare and submit interim valuations and client payment applicationsNegotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractorsAttend client, progress, commercial, and risk review meetingsSupport tendering and pricing activities for future worksAssist with cash recovery, forecasting, and credit control activitiesProvide commercial and contractual support to operational delivery teamsAbout YouWe are looking for a commercially focused professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.Essential Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity SurveyorStrong understanding of commercial and contractual management principlesExperience producing CVRs, forecasts, valuations, and final accountsExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsStrong negotiation and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlinesHigh level of commercial awareness and attention to detailLogical and analytical approach to decision makingDesirableDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related disciplineRICS accredited qualification or equivalentPrevious experience within the utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or construction sectorsWorking knowledge of NEC contractsWhat's on Offer?Competitive salary and benefits packageExposure to major infrastructure and utilities projectsCareer development and progression opportunitiesSupportive and collaborative working environmentOpportunity to play a key role in a growing and successful commercial teamIf you are looking to further your career with a forward-thinking organisation that values professional development and commercial excellence, we'd love to hear from you.Apply today for a confidential discussion.Aldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
