Overview
Winchester City Council is a landlord for over 5,000 homes and is recognised for its strong track record in tackling homelessness. The Council has recently received a regulatory C3 judgement for consumer standards and has devised a comprehensive action plan to meet the new consumer standards which will be a key area of work. We are looking to appoint an experienced senior leader to build on the progress being made in addressing these challenges. An understanding of the strategies to address housing need, coupled with knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements of a registered provider of affordable housing, will be essential.
Our Corporate Head of Housing is part of the senior leadership team. You will be a highly capable leader who can deliver a range of high-quality frontline services, offer sound professional advice to elected members and colleagues, and inspire the whole team in pursuit of continued improvement to shape a modern and efficient service, especially as the council prepares for Local Government Reorganisation.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a range of high-quality frontline housing services and provide sound professional advice to elected members and colleagues.
* Lead and inspire teams to achieve continued improvement and high standards of service delivery.
* Develop and implement strategies to address housing need, in line with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements for a registered provider of affordable housing.
* Engage with political environments and key partnerships to influence and deliver solutions for the district.
* Prepare for and support Local Government Reorganisation planning and execution as part of the leadership team.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience at a senior level in a similar housing leadership role.
* Knowledge of housing strategies, legislation, and regulatory requirements for affordable housing providers.
* Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing Management (or hold a Level 5 qualification of a similar nature).
* Demonstrated management capabilities to build strong teams and a culture of service excellence.
Contract and salary
* Contract: Permanent/Full Time
* Salary: £81,210 – £88,650 per annum, plus Essential Car User Allowance (£846 gross per annum)
