Senior Project Manager - Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)
Location: Thorpewood House, Peterborough (hybrid working available)
Balfour Beatty plays a key role as part of Anglian Water’s @one Alliance, a collaboration between the utility and eight leading partners. This partnership delivers around 40% of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are currently in a challenging Asset Management Period (AMP 8) and will deliver a programme of work larger than ever before, setting global benchmarks and offering growth and development to our workforce.
To enhance our ability to deliver an optimal programme portfolio, we are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Project Manager.
What you'll be doing
As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of projects, developing delivery strategies and guiding them from initial concept through to client approval and final handover. You will oversee all aspects—design, construction, commissioning, and aftercare—ensuring projects meet agreed standards and deadlines in a dynamic, rewarding setting. Champion excellent customer service and seek creative approaches to working and technology that add real value.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead the end‑to‑end management of multiple projects, aligning outcomes with strategic objectives and driving outperformance.
* Prioritise Health & Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) throughout all stages, never compromising standards.
* Build and nurture a high‑performing team, coaching and developing individuals to achieve their career goals and enhance organisational capability.
* Manage stakeholders proactively and transparently, fostering collaboration and constructive challenge to achieve shared success.
* Develop and implement commercial strategies, including procurement, for optimal portfolio delivery.
* Balance risk and cost through active leadership, applying timely mitigation strategies as needed.
* Ensure adherence to governance processes and procedures for effective project control.
Who we're looking for
What We’re Looking For:
* APMP or equivalent (Practitioner level) qualification.
* Extensive experience as a Project Manager or Lead Project Manager (Senior PM/Project Director level).
* Proven track record managing schemes valued between £100m and £175m.
* Confident in leading teams and engaging with demanding stakeholders.
* Experience working within commercial alliances and a strong appreciation for collaborative success.
* Demonstrates sound judgement, decisive leadership, and a commitment to driving performance safely and efficiently.
* Innovative, visible, and inspirational leadership style, with a passion for building integrated teams that consistently add value.
