Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week.

The First Assessment Services is looking for a Deputy Team Manager to join our team at the Front Door of Bristol Children's Services.

The role requires you to provide a high quality, customer focussed service to children, young people, and families that supports early intervention and avoids unnecessary escalation of concerns about children. Providing a high-quality service to professional referrers to the First Response Team, that supports a shared responsibility for better outcomes for children.

Operating as the Senior Practitioner in the team, supporting the First Response Advisors when taking calls and receiving information from the public and referrers, and then recommending the appropriate response. Engaging effectively and respectfully with multi-agency partners in the team and externally, in-order-to provide a holistic response to the needs presented. To deputise for the Team Manager in their absence and be the daily decision-maker.

You will directly manage a small team of advisors or Business Support Officers.

The First Assessment Service is moving to City Hall, and is responsible for making rapid, informed and safe decisions for all referrals requesting support or safeguarding intervention for vulnerable children, young people and their families.


We have retained an office presence and recognise the value of working alongside colleagues to support development and promote positive working relationships. We are therefore seeking a Deputy Team Manager who shares this ethos and can work from the office. Some occasional home working will be an option dependant on service need and demand.


You will be joining a stable service with long term, permanent staff, low vacancy rates, and good staff morale.


The role is based at City Hall in the City Centre. There are excellent amenities around the office area. There is no free parking in the vicinity, but the office is easily accessible by public transport.

Please note that this role is also subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
