A leading UK law firm is seeking an English-qualified Contentious Probate Solicitor or Senior Solicitor (1–3 years’ PQE+) to join its highly regarded Private Wealth Disputes team within the Litigation department. This opportunity can be based in Leeds or undertaken remotely with flexibility to work from offices across England.
This award-winning team advises a broad client base including high-net-worth individuals, trustees, executors, family offices, and corporate and institutional clients on complex and often cross-border private wealth disputes. The practice is recognised for handling sophisticated contentious trust and probate matters, alongside wider disputes affecting private wealth clients, including professional negligence, tax-related disputes, and commercial litigation.
The successful candidate will work closely with leading practitioners on a varied caseload spanning court proceedings, mediation, negotiated settlements, arbitration, and other forms of ADR. The role offers significant client exposure and the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s English law private wealth disputes capability.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded litigator who is keen to develop a specialist contentious private client practice within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. The firm places strong emphasis on innovation, legal technology, and supporting lawyers in building their own profile and client relationships.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Drafting court documents, legal submissions, witness statements, and correspondence
* Conducting legal research and preparing strategic advice for clients
* Attending client meetings, mediations, and conferences with counsel
* Supporting business development initiatives and strengthening client relationships
* Contributing to the growth of the English litigation and cross-border private client practice
* Assisting colleagues with English law queries across the wider firm
* Keeping up to date with developments in contentious private client law and dispute resolution
Candidates should demonstrate:
* Strong experience in litigation and dispute resolution
* A genuine interest in private client and wealth disputes work
* Excellent drafting, research, and organisational skills
* A proactive and collaborative approach
* Commercial awareness and strong interpersonal skills
* Enthusiasm for legal innovation and the use of technology in practice
Experience in contentious trusts and probate, mediation, arbitration, or ADR would be advantageous, though not essential. The firm is supportive of ongoing professional development, including specialist qualifications such as ACTAPS or STEP.
In return, the firm offers exposure to high-quality and intellectually challenging work, genuine career progression opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive, collegiate culture with a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and professional development.
