The Commercial team handles all aspects of cost-effective building, including quantity surveying, estimating, procurement, and material buying.
With a focus on material choice, cost, customer satisfaction, and sales, our Commercial team—comprising Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Material Buyers—aims to deliver high-quality homes at optimal costs. Their work is crucial to our business viability and offers a dynamic environment that challenges your creativity and commercial skills.
Reporting to a Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Managing Surveyor, you will assist with commercial and surveying tasks on a site. Your duties include preparing reports and schedules, handling administrative tasks (filing, emails, calls), and maintaining a tidy Commercial presentation. You should be eager to learn and assist with subcontractor procedures, materials, and compliance with Group Policies.
You will be expected to:
1. Support cost control throughout development
2. Assist in accurate costing for site development aspects
3. Help compile cost and cash flow reports using available systems
4. Assist in tender preparation and subcontractor procurement following Group procedures
5. Process subcontract orders, payments, and variations, utilizing Excel and the COINS payment system
6. Understand and support evaluation and agreement of variations and instructions
7. Contribute to managing all commercial responsibilities related to RSLs
8. Attend team meetings as required
9. Provide ad hoc duties and administrative support when needed
10. Maintain filing systems and databases
11. Promote compliance with Group values, systems, policies, and procedures
12. Ensure adherence to Group IT systems
13. Assist in compiling weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
14. Stay informed about new materials and construction methods
To succeed, you should be:
* Studying or recently qualified in surveying
* Possessing a valid CSCS card
* Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail and data interpretation skills
* Methodical, organized, and committed to high standards
* Proficient in MS Office and Excel, with strong written English
* Articulate, clear, credible, and able to work under pressure
* Capable of working independently
* Effective in communication and relationship-building
* Self-disciplined with good time management
* Capable of multitasking and working accurately
* A team player with a professional manner
