At Chirton Engineering we design, manufacture, and services bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components and remote handling systems alongside providing specialist engineering services in the Nuclear, Defense, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical and Renewable industries. We have over 120 years of experience and provide industry leading services to our portfolio of long-standing customers.

ours of Work & Pay & Benefits
4 day working week - Monday to Thursday 37 hours per week.
£17.97 - £20.24 plus shift allowance £5.99 - £6.74 per hour for standard machinists.
£23.00 plus shift allowance £7.65 for experienced 5-axis machinists with proven background.
Flexibility on start and finish times.
Three work patterns available (nightshift, day shift or two weeks days, two weeks nights on rotation).
Overtime available paid at time and a half.
Up to 12 weeks company sick pay.

Key responsibilities
Setting up and operating CNC machines: Prepare the machine for the specific task, program the machine, and oversee the operation.
Monitoring and adjusting machine settings: Ensure that the machine is working at optimal efficiency and quality. This may involve adjusting speed, feed, coolant flow, and other settings.
Inspecting finished products for accuracy and quality: Check the finished product to ensure it meets the required specifications and quality standards.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues with CNC machines: Identify and fix any problems with the machine, such as mechanical issues or programming errors.
Collaborating with engineers to optimize manufacturing processes: Work closely with engineers to improve the manufacturing process, which can include optimizing machine settings, improve tooling, and implement new machining strategies. Supporting the company on its continuous improvement journey.
Ensuring the Safety of self and others: Following company procedures and best practice
Ensuring Compliance with Environmental Responsibilities: Following company procedures and best practice
What you need for the role.
Previous experience and skills in a CNC milling role.
Knowledge of CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.
Experience with Mazatrol and / or Siemens controls is advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
Keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for prolonged periods.
