The implementation of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) is part of the national effort to improve access to mental health care for children and young people. MHSTs are based within education settings to provide earlier mental health support through individual and community interventions. This role is at the forefront of developing MHSTs in Suffolk, supporting around 50% of education settings with plans to reach all children and young people in the county.
This role will be based across the Central and East Suffolk teams. We are open to flexible working hours and part-time/job shares where appropriate.
You will provide a high-quality service to children and young people (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, through early intervention and appropriate support. You will work across a range of education settings.
Responsibilities
* Provide psychological expertise and clinical supervision to the Suffolk MHSTs.
* Support the clinical delivery and development of the service in collaboration with the Clinical Team Managers and Clinical Lead.
* Utilise skills in child and adolescent psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
* Implement whole-school/college approaches to mental health through collaboration with the school/college community.
* Contribute to reporting of impact and outcomes to support continual improvement and expansion of the MHST.
Qualifications
* Qualification as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist or equivalent, eligible for registration and part of the HCPC (or local equivalent) depending on jurisdiction.
* Experience with assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
* Ability to provide clinical supervision and contribute to the development of services within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to engage with schools/colleges and to work collaboratively with education settings and families.
