Job Description

6. Managing a portfolio of clients with varying business sizes and sectors
7. Serving as the day-to-day point of contact for assigned clients
8. Building and maintaining strong client relationships
9. Preparing and reviewing annual accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
10. Handling complex accounting issues and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
11. Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns
12. Reviewing VAT returns and other regulatory filings
13. Providing technical advice on accounting and tax matters
14. Delegating and reviewing work completed by more junior staff
15. Providing technical guidance and training to team members
16. Conducting performance reviews for direct reports
17. Managing client deadlines and workflow planning
18. Implementing and maintaining internal control procedures
19. Reviewing work to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
20. Demonstrating proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (like those mentioned in their credentials)
21. Advising clients on appropriate accounting software solutions
22. Assisting with software implementation and training for clients
23. Supporting partners with proposals and pitches to prospective clients
24. Participating in networking events and business development activities

The Successful Applicant

25. Fully qualified accountant or QBE with 10-15 years practice experience (must bee AAT level 4)
26. Strong background in preparing accounts and tax returns for SMEs
27. Experience managing client relationships directly
28. Proficient with cloud accounting platforms (particularly those the firm is accredited for)
29. Strong technical accounting knowledge, especially UK GAAP
30. Solid tax compliance knowledge (personal, corporate, and VAT)
31. Experience supervising junior staff and reviewing their work
32. Excellent communication skills for client interactions and team management
33. Strong attention to detail while maintaining efficiency
34. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively
35. Self-motivated with good initiative and problem-solving abilities
36. Commercial awareness to identify client needs and opportunities
37. Relationship-building skills to develop long-term client trust
38. Mentoring capability to develop junior staff
