City of York Council is offeringan exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses and Midwives to join ourtransforming 0-19 Healthy Child Service. We are looking for high quality,innovative and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for improving outcomesfor children and young people.
Main duties of the job
Our Healthy Child Nurses work inthe 0-11 Health Visiting teams or in the School Aged Health Team. The role isvaried, interesting and fulfilling and provides opportunities to make a realdifference to children, young people and their families.
Working as a Healthy Child Nurseyou will contribute to the development and delivery of public healthinitiatives to promote the health and well-being of children and young people,enabling them to reach their full potential. You will deliverprogrammes of support in various community settings, early years settings,school settings and in the homes of families as delegated by Health Visitorsand School Nurses.
You will beworking alongside a range of partners including early help providers,childrens services, education, housing, adult services, the voluntary andcommunity sector, primary and secondary health services and of course children,families and communities.

Job responsibilities
The Healthy Child Nurse will support the delivery of a creative,diverse and innovative approach to improving health outcomes for children andyoung people across the City.
Working with children, young people and their families across the 0-19agenda promoting health, preventing ill health, identifying health needs andrecognising unmet health needs through use of evidence-based practice.
Working under the leadership of the Specialist Community Public HealthNurse, the post holder will deliver direct work with children, young people andfamilies and play a part in building community capacity to contribute to theHealthy Child Programme High Impact Areas and the local Joint Strategic NeedsAssessment.
The post holder will enable access to health services, as appropriate,and strengthen the quality of health education in community and school settingsand provide targeted outreach.
They will provide advice and guidance, signposting and supportinginterventions to all children and young people as part of the 0-19 HealthyChild Programme with a progressive universalism approach, based firmly onproven Public Health evidence to target those at risk of poor outcomes.
