Huntsman are recruiting Packing Machine Operators for our chemical manufacturing site in Duxford, Cambridge on both a permanent and 12-month fixed term contract basis.
Working as part of a team you will carry out a variety of finished product operations using automatic filling and semi-automatic filling and packing equipment to meet high quality standards. As part of the Advanced Materials division, we produce specialist adhesive products for the aerospace, automotive, wind, power, electronics and coatings markets.
As Packing Machine Operator, you will:
1. Set, operate and monitor equipment to fill and pack products following standard operating procedures and in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Ensure all work is carried out safely and all near misses, incidents and accidents are reported/investigated.
3. Clean equipment lines between campaigns to ensure no cross-contamination of product and/or materials. This may involve stripping the machine down and reassembling it.
4. Work as part of a team to ensure targets are met whilst maintaining quality standards and maximising efficiency. Complete all related documentation accurately and complete quality assurance checks on finished goods.
5. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and plant cleanliness. It is the responsibility of each operator to ensure the work area is kept clean, tidy and safe.
6. Identify and propose improvements to the operations performed in the Packing Plant which will help improve quality, cost and productivity.
Skills & Experience Required:
7. Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
8. Strong numerical ability with GCSE Maths and English.
9. Mechanical aptitude.
10. Experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in the chemical industry and automation is advantageous.
11. Forklift Licence or the capacity to learn.
12. Excellent, reliable team worker, able to adapt to changing priorities.
13. Computer literate.
14. This role is physically demanding requiring a certain amount of manual handling, manual dexterity and being on your feet for extended periods.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts. 6am-2pm, 2pm – 10pm, rotating weekly, for which you will receive a shift premium.
