Senior Associate (8+ years PQE) - Family

JOB PURPOSE
One of the UK's largest family law teams, which is top ranked by Chambers and Legal 500, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join their team in Glasgow. We are looking for a pro-active candidate eager to practise family law at the highest level and to assist in driving forward the team's strategic objectives .
The successful candidate will be a focussed, ambitious and self-motivated lawyer who will be expected to work collaboratively with the other members of the team in a variety of cases involving the whole spectrum of family law.
Ideally the successful candidate will be a confident litigator with experience in both the sheriff court and court of session as well as having experience of or at least a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution models.
We attract a diverse range of family law work including challenging child law cases and the whole range of financial provision following relationship breakdown from complex high value divorce / dissolution to advising those of modest wealth in a cost-effective way. Regardless of the individual we are acting for, we provide our clients with excellent client care with a solution-orientated approach. We are looking for a candidate who will provide our family law clients with clear direction and sound advice.
CORE TASKS
* Providing solution-orientated advice to clients on financial provision upon separation and divorce and acting for clients in child related matters including residence and contact disputes child relocation applications and child abduction petitions.
* Engaging, meeting and advising clients on your own. Taking excellent care of clients from the beginning of their cases through to the end.
* Drafting financial settlement agreements, pre and post nuptial and cohabitation agreements and providing clear advice on the legal implications of those documents.
* Drafting pleadings and conducting advocacy in sheriff court litigation both in person and over WebEx.
* Working collaboratively with other team members to look after their clients, including attending client meetings and follow-up work, attending consultations with counsel and assisting with the follow-up work, preparing productions, taking statements from witnesses and covering court hearings in the Sheriff Court.
* Being actively involved in the practice area's business development and strategic objectives in order to grow our client base.
* Regular blogging for the team website, research, working on legal updates for the team and producing social media content.
* Being aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protecting information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference.

* 8 years plus PQE in family law is essential.
