Allen Lane are delighted to be supporting the London Borough of Hounslow in their search for experienced Service Designer to join the organisation on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join the council’s Transforming Community Experience Programme and work with various teams to support process improvement, reducing complexity and ultimately making services more effective, efficient and human. As a Service Designer you will: Carry out in-depth user research in the form of interviews, workshops, surveys or usability tests turning insights into actionable design directions. Gain a comprehensive understanding of user needs, identifying where separate interactions within the council should act as one service to meet those needs Support design decisions with insight and empathy, helping the wider team to develop a deep understanding of the people that use Hounslow’s services and the people who deliver them Design streamlined and rational user journeys Contribute to the service transition of user-centric projects including running pilots and ensuring the solution can be operated and owned by the service As a Service Designer you will have: Previous experience working in a similar role, with a deep understanding of service design and user research An appreciation of business analysts, user research and user centred service design. Along with the ability to convey this importance to the wider organisation Experience supporting new ways of working that reduce costs and deliver better services for users The ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical concepts into non-technical language A forward thinking mindset – you’re a service designer who looks into the future whilst designing for now.
