Job Overview
Amentum is recruiting a Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer to join our Energy business. This role supports key UK nuclear fleet clients and new small and advanced modular reactor developers across projects such as licensing, new build, life extension, and defueling. It also involves renewable energy and high‑energy industrial projects, including data centres and hydrogen production facilities. The position is part of a broader graduate programme aimed at developing future engineering leaders.
Responsibilities
* Support the analysis, design and construction preparation activities related to structures and civil engineering features on nuclear and energy projects.
* Capture requirements and apply a Systems Engineering approach.
* Participate across the project lifecycle: bid generation, concept and detailed design development, and construction.
* Prepare safety case inputs such as Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs), Structural Design Method Statements (SDMSs), and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).
* Develop interpretive reports, basis of design documents, finite‑element models and analyses, calculations, CDM documentation, material specifications, scopes of work, and technical reports.
* Assist in preparing design safety documentation and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards.
* Participate in site surveys and inspections.
* Contribute to problem‑solving, technical investigations, and root‑cause analysis.
* Produce high‑quality technical reports.
* Build and maintain valuable relationships with peers, partners and clients.
Graduate Programme Overview
The programme launches in September 2026 and provides a structured path through our Energy offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Gloucester, Bristol or Knutsford). It is designed to support a secure and vibrant future while helping you gain broad experience across the energy sector.
Eligibility
* Completed an undergraduate or master’s degree in a relevant subject by summer 2026.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative and proactive mindset.
* Proficient IT literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Graduate Programme Requirements
* First professional role post‑graduation.
* Completed first degree no earlier than summer 2024.
* Not employed in a similar role since graduation.
* Minimum 2:2 classification in first degree.
