Position: Junior Quantity Surveyor Location: Annacloy, Northern Ireland (UK) Contract Type: Full‑Time, Permanent Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum About the Company My client is a specialist protective coatings and inspection contractor working across industrial and construction sectors. The business provides professional surface preparation, blasting, industrial and commercial painting, passive fire protection painting (e.g., intumescent systems), independent inspection and related finishing services on projects of varying scale. You'll be joining a hands‑on team supporting both contracts and commercial functions as the company grows and wins new work in industrial painting, passive fire protection, and small‑scale building/civil work. Role Summary As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in costing, measuring and managing commercial aspects of tender submissions and live projects. You'll work closely with project managers, site teams, and sub‑contractors to help ensure accurate pricing, effective contract administration and timely final accounts. Key Responsibilities Tender Preparation & Pricing Assist with preparation of tender submissions and estimates. Measure works from drawings and site visits (industrial coatings, painting, passive fire, building elements). Prepare bills of quantities and price breakdowns. Support senior QS in benchmarking rates and pricing models. Project Commercial Support Quantify site works, variations, extras and change orders. Monitor project costs and report on cost performance. Prepare interim valuations and applications for payment. Review subcontractor quotations and evaluate commercial risks. Measurement & Reporting Work with site teams to measure progress. Maintain accurate records of quantities and variations. Provide supporting documentation to back up claims. Final Accounts & Close‑Out Assist in preparing final accounts on project completion. Reconcile costs with contract sums. Provide input on lessons‑learned and cost reporting. Support & Compliance Help maintain commercial records, files and audit trails. Support compliance with company processes and quality standards. Requirements / Person Specification ducation & Experience Degree, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related discipline. 0-2 years' commercial experience (construction or industrial environment preferred). Some site experience or commercial awareness will be advantageous. Skills & Knowledge Strong numeracy and analytical skills. Good understanding of measurement techniques, estimating and contract structures. IT literate (MS Excel, project costing software). Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability. Effective communicator (written and verbal). Attributes Ability to work under supervision and as part of a team. Proactive approach to problem solving.
