Are you a physiotherapist with a specialist interest in influencing service delivery within Orthopaedics?
The inpatient orthopaedic physiotherapy team is looking for a Clinical Specialist to lead, showcase and develop the current service to respond to the ever changing service need. The team provides high quality, evidence-based care across elective, trauma and our dedicated hip fracture ward. You will also have the opportunity to provide an orthopaedic physiotherapy service to paediatric cases.
Whilst the core orthopaedic service is based at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, the team cover elective day surgery at Queen Margaret in Dunfermline. Both locations are commutable from Lothian, Forth Valley, Dundee and Perth and car share amongst colleagues is often available. Working with the Team Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of service provision and adapting to changes required to support service need while adhering to local and national standards and guidelines. You will engage in local and national projects, research, audits and lead quality improvement initiatives to ensure the service continuously adapts.
While the most significant change to NHS Fife orthopaedic service has been the opening of the National Treatment Centre in March 2023 (as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic), you will be integral to the wider orthopaedic team, contributing to the orthopaedic service over 7 days, including providing an evening service. You need to be highly motivated and able to demonstrate a passion and specialist clinical knowledge for orthopaedics; with the expectation to share this through education and training with the multidisciplinary team. You should have a desire to lead service improvement and be able to demonstrate an understanding of leadership within a team setting. The department is fully committed to the training of the next generation of clinicians and you will be actively involved with undergraduate and post graduate education.
We offer development opportunities in-house in the form of clinic and theatre visits, peer review and clinical supervision/teaching. NHS Fife will consider flexible working requests and is able to provide funding for external courses. You will receive regular appraisal and PDP meetings and have access to excellent peer group and management support.
