We are a proactive department with a focus on service improvement, digital advancement and staff development. We offer a preceptorship programme for new staff, regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities to support career progression.
Main duties of the job
The Nutrition and Dietetic service is split into speciality teams: secondary care, bariatrics, primary care, adult and paediatric diabetes, home enteral feeding, and paediatrics. We are supported by Dietetic assistants and Central Administration. Our service is based on four sites: Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital.
The paediatric dietetic team provides cover to the general population within County Durham and Darlington and covers telephone clinics, face-to-face clinics, some MDT clinic appointments and community paediatric healthcare professional training. The post holder will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital but will be required to cover other areas within the locality of County Durham and Darlington.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals and over 80 other community-based settings and care in patients' homes.

Qualifications
* Essential: BSc(hons) / BSc / Diploma in Dietetics
* Clinical supervisory skills
* Leadership Training

* Working towards or hold Masters Degree
* Completion of module 1 of the BDA paediatric group post registration module
Special Skills & Knowledge
* Completion of post-graduate specialist education e.g. BDA paediatric group post registration module
* Ability to plan, initiate and evaluate new services and manage change
* Understanding of NHS environment and its impact on service provision and staff
* Understanding of local and national strategies and policies relating to nutrition, health and social care as relevant to community dietetics
* Member of BDA
Desirable
* Experience of using SystmOne
* Experience of using Cerner
Experience
* Essential: Significant post-registration experience; experience in a variety of clinical settings including paediatrics; experience working within MDT environments

* Audit and research experience including submissions to journals/conferences; experience in paediatric dietetics including growth concerns
