Overview
This is a permanent position located on Moreton Ward, a 26-bed ward caring for acute medical patients at Dorset County Hospital with an emphasis on Respiratory conditions. We would like to invite experienced Registered Nurses/Paramedics who are keen to support the care of our medical patients. We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses/Paramedics who are organised and can use their own initiative whilst being flexible to frequently changing situations, to work alongside the senior nursing team and allied health professionals.
Main duties
The post requires excellent communication skills, with a range of health professionals in relation to patient admission and discharge, to support the working of the team with internal and external agencies and fellow professionals and to support safe and effective patient discharges from hospital and assist with patient flow.

Education, Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse/Paramedic
* Evidence of CPD
* Immediate Life Support training
* Cannulation, Venepuncture
* Intravenous Administration of Medicines
Desirable
* Teaching and Mentoring Competency
Knowledge and Experience
* Post registration experience with recent acute Medical/ Surgical/Elderly Care experience in an acute hospital or as a Paramedic
* Understanding of professional nursing/paramedic issues
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
* Evidence of ability to practice as a proficient practitioner
* Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors
* Understanding of confidentiality, information governance and the Caldicott principles
* Evidence of excellent communication skills across a range of personnel
* Evidence of ability to manage time effectively
Desirable
* Demonstrate an understanding of risk management
