About Hinkley Point C The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy. Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year, or 600 million tonnes over its 60-year lifespan. What you'll be doing As an Electrical Test and Inspection Lead, you will have the following responsibilities; To abide by, and implement safety systems in strict compliance with The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Electrical at Work Regulations 1989, Electricity Safety Quality And Continuity Regulations 2002 etc. To be the MEHJV subject matter expert regarding the on-site testing and inspection for the electrical installations (including the I&C and building services systems). Support the MEHJV installation teams with the implementation of BS7671 and RCC-E requirements relating to testing and inspection of electrical systems. Support the MEHJV planning teams to monitor the status of the testing and inspection of the electrical installations. To support both the on-site project leadership teams, and off-site electrical delivery partner engineering and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) leadership teams with the safe management of electrical energy at HPC. Represent the MEH JV at relevant internal and external stakeholder meetings relating to electrical testing and inspection. Engage with NNB engineering, project management and planning teams to promote schedule realistic energisation timelines. Ensure that electrical systems intended to be energised by the duty holder are fit for purpose with completed supporting documentation, and that suitable and practicable measures are documented and implemented to ensure safety to both people and plant where works are required on or near live electrical services. Assessment of the competencies of people in relation to works being executed on or near electrical live services, ensuring that appropriate safety documents are in place and those in receipt of safety documents are competent to hold them. Ensuring minimum engineering expectations are met. On behalf of the electrical delivery partner, and MEH JV, act as the responsible person / Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the project supporting evolving updates of the electrical safety procedures. Provide reporting and support to the MEH JV Construction Manager with respect to electrical testing and inspection. Support the MEH JV quality team to develop inspection and test plans for the electrical inspection and testing activities. Who we're looking for Do you have? Significant experience in electrical testing and inspection A good working knowledge of electrical safe systems of work including lock out and isolations procedures. Have an excellent working knowledge of the testing requirements of BS7671 BS7671 18th edition qualification City & Guilds 2391 (18th edition) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Up to date knowledge of workplace / construction Health and Safety Degree / HND / HNC Electrical Engineering (or suitable work experience). Proficient use of IT and MS Office software. Current construction health and safety training. Shall hold a valid CSCS / ECS card or equivalent.
