We are looking for motivated individuals to join our ambitious organisation as a Healthcare support worker. Please note this is a Community based role based at Savernake Hospital.
You will be responsible for delivering individual patient care. You will need to be highly motivated and enthusiastic, to help improve both the patient experience and the nursing care. This role is offered on a progression scheme where you will undertake the Care Certificate which approximately take 6 months to complete where your pay band will increase.
Please note a full UK driving license is required for this post as this role requires you to be able to travel across multiple sites.
Under the delegation and supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner.
The Health Care Support Worker will work within the out-patient department as part of a team supporting patients, clinicians and colleagues during outpatient consultations. They will provide the fundamentals of care to patients in the hospital to ensure high standards are maintained in a safe environment including patient safety and to make sure that the care experience is positive by treating all patients, family, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values and policies.
Given the current UK immigration requirements this role is not eligible for sponsorship, and it is not possible for the Trust to sponsor applicants for a visa for this role.

Will have the knowledge and skills to provide the fundamental care needs for individual patients under the direction and supervision of the registered practitioner, the following can be undertaken in the band 2 training period, following the GWH standards of care. These duties will be repetitive, routine and familiar, following the patient care plan and consent gained from the patient which must include;


Caring and communication with kindness and compassion Personal Care including catheter care (if required) Nutrition and Hydration support Pressure Area Care Collect specimens (routine bodily fluids only) Moving and handling Documentation including food & fluid charts and outcome sheets. Environmental maintenance Performing care in line with risk assessments and care plans


Ensure all clinical rooms are stocked up with appropriate clinical forms and patient information sheets Assist with the preparation of medical notes to facilitate the running of clinics. Escort to other departments (except theatre) Instigate Emergency procedure Completion of accident / incident forms Promote person centered values and provide support for patients wellbeing and fulfilment


Achieve the desirable requirements in the training and education section of the person specification within agreed timeframe.

Level 1 functional skills in Literacy and Numeracy
Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare support
or Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care
Care Certificate
IT skills, competent in Microsoft Office
Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work, policies and procedures
Committed to providing high quality patient care
Full UK Driving Licence
Experience in care/health role
