Job Summary
We're looking for a highly motivated and versatile Events and Social Media Manager / Shopkeeper to be a driving force behind our charity's mission. This unique, hands-on role combines event management, retail operations, and volunteer coordination, making a direct impact on our community engagement and fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of managing a wide range of responsibilities and helping to shape our strategic direction. This is a full-time position based in Edinburgh, requiring adaptability, a proactive approach, and a passion for our cause. The job roles and responsibilities will be assisted by the management board.
Duties
I. Events Management (40%)
Planning & Execution:
* Lead the planning, organisation, and seamless execution of all events, from initial concept to post-event evaluation with assistance of management board.
* Manage event logistics, including venue setup, coordination with external suppliers, and efficient participant registration.
Strategy & PR Support:
* Collaborate with the management board to formulate and implement a comprehensive PR and events strategy, ensuring a tactical plan for its successful execution.
* Actively participate in PR and event initiatives to maximise our charity's reach, perception, and impact within the community.
II. Outreach & Communication (20%)
Outreach & Correspondence:
* Act as a primary point of contact for external queries, handling correspondence with partners and the community.
* Ensure all communication is professional, timely, and aligned with our charity's values.
Social Media Management:
* Assist in our social media channels by creating engaging content and managing a consistent posting schedule.
III. Retail & Volunteer Operations (40%)
System Implementation & Management:
* Organise and implement efficient systems to improve processes within retail operations and volunteer coordination.
* Develop and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both retail and volunteer activities, ensuring clear and concise guidelines for all.
Adaptive Inventory & Stock Management:
* Oversee all aspects of inventory management for our unpredictable stock, including diligent tracking, effective sorting, pricing, and efficient allocation of goods.
* Execute flexible stocking and restocking procedures to ensure our retail space is consistently well-presented.
Shop Organisation:
* Take a lead role in the overall organisation of the shop, including dynamic merchandising and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
Customer Service & Sales:
* Deliver excellent customer handling, providing a warm, welcoming, and helpful experience for all visitors and customers.
* Accurately and securely manage all cash handling procedures, including sales transactions, and daily reconciliations.
Volunteer Management & Well-being:
* Be responsible for the overall management and well-being of our dedicated volunteer team in HQ.
* Cultivate a supportive, engaging, and appreciative environment for all volunteers in HQ.
Scheduling & Delegation:
* Create and manage HQ volunteer rotas and hours, ensuring optimal staffing for HQ and various events.
* Effectively delegate tasks to volunteers, adapting assignments based on their skills and the fluctuating demands of our charitable activities.
Training:
* Conduct comprehensive staff training for volunteers, equipping them with the necessary skills and information to confidently support our operations.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in social media management or public relations is essential.
* Strong understanding of various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and their respective audiences.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Ability to think creatively and strategically while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Familiarity with social media analytics tools to track performance and inform strategy adjustments.
