Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to Lead and support the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects (Process improvements, Capacity enhancement, Compliance, Infrastructure upgrades) on a Chemical site based in Cheshire.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure projects are aligned with business objectives, statutory requirements, and company standards.
2. Plan, coordinate, and deliver engineering EPC and EPCM projects across process, mechanical, Civil and electrical disciplines
3. Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
4. Manage contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
5. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project delivery.
6. Lead project risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
7. Maintain accurate project documentation, including P&IDs, asset registers, and change management records.
8. Drive project governance through stage-gate reviews, reporting, and performance tracking.
9. Support commissioning, handover, and integration of new plant modifications or equipment into operations.
10. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and EHS teams to ensure project deliverables meet operational needs.
11. Projects delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
12. Effective stakeholder communication and collaboration across departments.
13. Hands on/ boots on the ground Project delivery
14. Strong project governance and documentation maintained.
15. Continuous improvement in project delivery processes and outcomes.
Qualifications
16. Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering engineering projects in a COMAH or high-hazard environment.
17. Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Chemical Engineering) with project management experience.
18. Chartered status or working towards it is advantageous.
19. Strong project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management).
20. Technical understanding of process safety and hazard identification methods (HAZOP, LOPA, ALARP).
21. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
22. Ability to make decisions under pressure with a positive, results-driven attitude.
