Our client is seeking a Level 2 or Level 3 Equine Groom Apprentice to join their team. This position follows the non-riding pathway of the equine apprenticeship qualification. The successful candidate will support with general yard duties, including mucking out, feeding, turning out, and tacking up horses for customer use.

* Due to the location, access to a vehicle would be beneficial
Responsibilities for an Apprentice
* Fully participate in regular ongoing training towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Equine Groom qualification
* Commit to individual learning progress in line with Next Step Apprenticeships' guidelines
* Ensure all apprenticeship work is completed in a timely manner
* Undertake general yard duties, including mucking out, bedding down, turning out, bringing in, feeding, tacking up, rug changing, and tack cleaning, all under supervision
* Hold horses and ponies, when required, for the vet, farrier, and dentist, ensuring horse welfare is taken into consideration
* Attend daily management meetings with the Yard Manager to discuss the day's activities and raise any concerns
* Bring horses and ponies in from the fields, groom and tack up ready for the day's activities
* Ensure horse welfare is checked and all tack is checked for damage and wear
* Report any issues to the Yard Manager
* Complete daily checks of all stabled and field horses, ensuring any welfare concerns are raised with the Yard Manager
* Complete field checks to establish whether any hay replenishment is required
* Sweep the yard and tidy all areas that horses have occupied
* Clean tack rooms, office, and toilet facilities
* Report any damage or replenishment of supplies to the Yard Manager
Apprenticeship Information
You will be enrolled on the Equine Groom Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship, typically completed over 18 months. This includes:
* Regular workplace-based learning supported by your training provider and line manager
* A minimum of 6 hours per week of off-the-job training
* Development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours aligned to the apprenticeship standard
* Completion of a portfolio and end-point assessment
* Functional Skills support in English or Maths if not previously achieved at Level 2

Once you have completed your apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to move into a permanent role.
