Job Title: Behaviour Mentor (Specialist SEMH Provision) Location: Gloucestershire (semi-rural setting – driving recommended) Salary: Competitive daily rates (depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-time / Term-time Agency: Axcis Education About the Role Axcis Education is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH provision in Gloucestershire to recruit a Behaviour Mentor. This role offers a unique opportunity to support young people aged 11–16 who may have found mainstream education challenging, and who need consistent, compassionate adults to help them thrive. The school’s vision is to empower pupils to become safe, independent, confident, resilient, and socially aware citizens. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in achieving this, providing individualised support that helps pupils to regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop positive behaviours both in school and beyond. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs Support the implementation of behaviour support plans and therapeutic interventions Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to create a safe and nurturing environment Assist in managing behaviour in lessons, during transitions, and unstructured times such as breaks and lunch Record and monitor behaviour and progress, sharing insights with colleagues, parents and external agencies where appropriate Act as a positive role model at all times, demonstrating patience, empathy, and consistency What We’re Looking For A resilient, caring and patient individual with a genuine desire to support young people Experience in education, youth work or a pastoral role is an advantage, but not essential An understanding of SEMH and related needs (trauma, attachment, communication difficulties) is desirable Flexibility and adaptability – every day is different, and no two pupils are the same Good communication skills with both young people and adults The ability to travel to a semi-rural location (driving is recommended) What’s on Offer A chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need it most Support from a welcoming, inclusive team with a strong pastoral focus Opportunities for professional development and training through Axcis Education A varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same Apply Now If you’re ready to take on a meaningful role where your work directly impacts young people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
