Job Summary
The PBS Practitioner plays a vital role in supporting children with behavioural challenges through the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies. This position involves working closely with children, families, and educational staff to promote positive behaviours and enhance the overall well-being of each child. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement individualised PBS plans tailored to the needs of each child.
* Conduct assessments to identify behavioural challenges and strengths in children.
* Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to create a cohesive support network.
* Provide training and guidance to staff on PBS strategies and techniques.
* Monitor progress and adjust interventions as necessary to ensure effectiveness.
* Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and outcomes for each child.
* Facilitate workshops or training sessions for parents and staff on positive behaviour strategies.
* Advocate for the needs of children within educational settings and community resources.
Requirements
* Proven experience working with children, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
* Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles and practices.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
* Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development and well-being.
* Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work or a related field are desirable but not essential.
* Ability and willingness to work within a challenging environment, working alongside support staff role modelling practices, and championing processes and systems.
