We are looking for volunteers keen to share their specialist knowledge with our ecommerce team, who enjoy researching items and creating accurate online listings. Our ecommerce department raises vital funds through the sale of pre-loved goods and use their skills, knowledge & experience to maximise income on donated goods by spotting rare and valuable items. We’ve sold first edition James Bond books, rare antique violins, and mountains of unique vintage jewellery. We receive varied items from specialist books, instruments, coins, stamps, old toys and games, ornaments, vinyl, paintings, to clocks and watches. We also receive lots of high end modern and vintage clothing, handbags and accessories. When am I needed? The ecommerce office is currently located in the Acomb Furniture shop and will be moving to Clifton Moor in early summer 2026. It is open Monday – Friday 9:00am-4:00pm. Morning shifts tend to run 9:00am – 12:30pm, Afternoon shifts tend to run 1:00pm – 4:00pm although other shifts can be accommodated as long as they are at least 2 hours in length. Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred. What will I be doing? Researching donated items Pricing items Writing accurate and engaging item descriptions What skills and qualities will I need? The Volunteer Services Team will help guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering. Training Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules which are usually delivered via our online platform. Additional, booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face. You may also be invited to attend role specific in person meetings where appropriate.
